Johnny Burgos is a multi-faceted singer, songwriter and producer born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His brand of future-soul embodies a raw uncompromising sound revealing beauty from pain, hope from despair, and the will to keep fighting. With influences from Michael Jackson, Erykah Badu, J Dilla, Lauryn Hill and D'Angelo, Johnny's music draws upon the core principles of R&B/Soul, while encompassing elements of Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk and Pop. Especially influenced by his uncle and world-class percussionist, Andre Martinez, Johnny grew a fascination with the percussive rhythms of salsa and soul music, which eventually manifested into a devoted passion for Hip Hop.
In the early stages of his music career, Johnny co-produced beats with long-time collaborator and friend, DJ Skizz, for Hip Hop luminaries such as Mobb Deep and M.O.P. Soon after, Johnny would team up with singer, songwriter and close friend, Liza Colby, to form the eclectic soul duo known as The Gold Setting. His interests soon turned towards more organic arrangements as he developed his songwriting and vocal approach that would become an integral element to his band project Bridge City Hustle, with whom he toured nationally.
Johnny's solo debut launched with a worldwide French's Mustard campaign commercial as well as a Samsung brand ambassador deal for their '360 gear' release in 2017, featuring his debut single, ‘Wild About You’. That and subsequent releases garnered the attention and acclaim of music outlets such as Okaplayer, ThisIsRnb, Run The TRAP, DUMMY Mag, Earmilk, PopDust, Indie Shuffle and Soulbounce. Burgos’ debut solo EP, ‘Love Through It All,’ was released in October 2018 to the same acclaim and has accumulated over 500,000 streams to date. Johnny’s full-length album is in the midst of completion and scheduled for a 2020 release.
